ServerProtect™ combines rule-based and pattern-recognition technologies for efficient virus detection. Patented Trend Micro™ technologies provide additional protection by removing macro and script viruses. Trend Micro's scan engine has been certified by both the International Computer Security Association (ICSA) and Virus Bulletin (VB) for reliable scanning. ServerProtect has also received Windows 2000 certification from Microsoft for certified interoperability between programs.
High-performance Scanning
ServerProtect performs scanning for viruses and malicious code via the Network Appliance™ API to minimize performance degradation. It uses a multi-threaded scan engine to enhance the speed of scanning files and minimize the impact to the server. To increase scalability and performance levels, multiple ServerProtect scan servers can be connected to a single filer at any time.
Flexible Configuration and Management
ServerProtect provides centralized management of multiple servers in one site from a Windows-based console. The console enables administrators to configure servers simultaneously and provides server status, including pattern file and program versions, infection status, and connection status for all servers. The Task Manager feature automates maintenance tasks including pattern and program file updating, compiling virus logs, and setting parameters for real-time scanning. Administrators can also use a Web-based console with Trend Micro Control Manager™, an optional service from Trend Micro, which facilitates centralized management of antivirus strategies deployed throughout a multiple-site network.
Robust Log Reports and Notifications
ServerProtect displays the antivirus history of servers in a central log file, which can be exported to other applications for further analysis. ServerProtect notifies predefined recipients of virus outbreaks and program events. Administrators can send notifications in multiple ways - via a message box, pager, printer, Internet email, SNMP trap, or Windows NT event log.
Automatic Virus Pattern Updates
A virus scanner is only as effective as its most recent update. ServerProtect can be configured to download virus pattern and scan engine updates automatically and then distribute them to designated servers. ServerProtect uses an incremental update mechanism that only downloads the new virus pattern files that have been added since the last version, which saves download time and preserves network bandwidth.
