FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Compeware Technology Associates Changes Name to Comware, Focuses on Network Security Solutions

From intrusion detection and prevention to Internet filtering and anti-virus remedies, Comware's sole mission is to protect customers' business assets, regardless of the threat.

DALLAS (MARCH 8, 2004) -- After four years of successfully providing leading-edge IT products and professional services to more than 7,500 corporate customers across the U.S., Dallas-based Compeware Technology Associates announced today that it has changed its company name to Comware.

Comware will be focused exclusively on addressing the market's burgeoning, mission-critical need for creating network security solutions that safeguard corporate data and communications from internal and external threats. And, while the Company's name change reflects that exact focal point, Comware will be building on its already-solid reputation, as established experts in the network security field.

Comware's prominence in supporting a wide variety of computing environments has been built on creating comprehensive, custom computer security solutions. These are "best-of-breed," based on products from vendors such as McAfee Security, Websense, Trend and Check Point to shore up customers' security shortfalls, regardless of the source.

Comware leverages its expertise and its certification status with these and other leading software vendors, to offer the best value proposition for all network security products, support and services, designed to provide Comware clients with a verifiable ROI on purchases and implementations.

This includes specifying, installing, and supporting anti-virus products, content management and URL filters, firewall systems, virtual private networks (VPNs), intrusion detection and prevention systems, encryption formulae, network security risk and vulnerability assessments, and more.

The Need for Security: Now More Than Ever
"Corporate computing security has gone from being a top-line consideration to a full-time, organization-wide, mission-critical MUST, that should be implemented, monitored and supported on a full-time, 24 x 7 basis," says Comware CEO Charles Carlson, emphasizing that security is no longer a concern of 'Fortune 500' corporations alone. "Even the smallest businesses face daily threats to their hardware, software, systems and data so numerous and baffling as to be nearly out of control," he states.

In fact, corporate computing time spent on "nuisance tasks" such as deleting SPAM or on the serious business of cleaning up viruses, is sapping productivity, almost universally counteracting the efficiency gains made in the last 20 years, according to Carlson. "Now, customers can concentrate on their businesses, and let Comware deal with vital network security issues," Carlson suggests.

"Even the most casual home computer user now must spend time deleting half their e-mails, as SPAM, as well as deal with the Virus d'jour, instead of doing business," Carlson observes. "Taking into account the serious ongoing threats to corporate and government data security since 9/11 demands extra diligence. The average computer user spends roughly five hours per week cleaning up e-mails, alone. System administrators spend a great deal more time -- anywhere from 20 to 40 hours per week -- cleansing their networks," Carlson emphasizes, adding, "We believe that we have a better way to solve these problems."

For these reasons and more, Comware has changed its name to more closely reflect its strategic mission and to intensify its focus on providing industry expertise combined with key enabling technologies supporting network security. Recognizing that the burden of researching, selecting, and implementing network hardware and software to meet an organization's needs no longer falls on the customer alone, Comware's expertly trained, certified engineers assess current network security operations and make purchasing recommendations.
